UK - On Tuesday, 1 February, BBC2 will jump to Tom Baker's Doctor Who episodes, beginning with Genesis of the Daleks (in case anyone hadn't heard yet). What is more interesting is that 2 episodes will air on 8 February (Genesis Of The Daleks 2+3), beginning at 6PM. They are showing 2 episodes instead of one due to the extensive Snooker coverage that day, which will make it impossible to air their regular 6:25PM programme (Due South). The best ratings that the BBC2 Tuesday reruns achieved to date were on 16 November, when the 6:25PM episode went up from the 6PM episode's score. |

UK - BBC Radio 4 has a comedy show called Dead Ringers that airs sometime Friday evenings and 12:30PM GMT on Saturdays. In the last several weeks it has gotten into a habit of airing Doctor Who-ish skits with a Tom Baker impersonator. In the Who skits, "Tom" calls unsuspecting people as the Doctor trying to get help on bizarre matters. The column goes out before the show airs, so I have no way of knowing which weeks will have Who skits material. Radio 4 has a real audio feed. However, there is a copyright issue getting in the way, so Dead Ringers is not available online at this time. Having heard the Doctor Who part of last week's Ringers, I strongly recommend that anyone who lives outside the UK and can't get either the FM or LW versions of this station make friends with someone in the UK who can send them tapes. |

Australia - UKTV in Australia ran an incomplete print of episode 7 of The Dead Planet on Thursday, 27 January. The final cliffhanger scene, which is also the first scene of episode 1 of The Edge of Destruction, was gone. I'm somewhat surprised by this. While the US/Canada prints of The Dead Planet and a number of early stories had the cliffhangers at the end edited, I thought that UKTV had been sold the complete versions. Oh well. |

Canada - SPACE's broadcast of Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. on January 24 was the complete 84 minute version, in case anyone was interested. Some video releases are 80 minutes long. SPACE is known for repeating their movies several times within a few months, so if you missed it the first time, you should have another chance soon. |

Canada - Apparently SPACE considers some early Doctor Who episodes to be unsuitable for children. Recent broadcasts of the first 2 episodes of The Dominators were rated "14+". Expect more on Doctor Who and TV ratings next week. |

One group are "perfect" beings (who happen to look British with a twinge of Scandanavian). The other group have withered away and must live in pepper pots. Perhaps the biggest British pop culture icon after the Beatles is born in this story. The cliffhanger at the end of episode 7 appears to not be included in this version. Mon 11:30PM AEDT The Edge Of Destruction - The Brink Of Disaster ep 2 of 2 Since the TARDIS crew seem incapable of figuring out what's going on themselves, the TARDIS decides to clarify matters. Tue-Fri 11:30PM AEDT The Keys of Marinus eps 1 - 4 of 6 (The Sea Of Death, The Velvet Web, The Screaming Jungle, The Snows Of Terror) The 1st Doctor is blackmailed into leading a search for 4 keys that will enable Arbitan to operate a mind-control machine. He promises to use the machine for good, and not evil. SURE he does. |
